Script for a film I am going to direct

I am in the film club at my new colllege and I am in the process of working on a script for a movie I am going to direct. It is a VH1 Behind The Music Exposee with the characters from Little Shop of Horrors. It is not completley finished yet. Please be careful with your critcisms

Newscaster 1: Welcome to Behind The Music Broadway where we focus on Broadway Show Characters. Today we are going to be featuring interviews with the characters from Little Shop of Horrors and see what they have done since departing from the wretchedness of Skid Row.
Newscaster 2: Our first interview is with Mrs. Shiva, a valued customer of Mr. Mushnik.’s Flower Shop formerly located at 1313 Skid Row She will talk about what it like to hear about the news of Mushnik’s sudden passing. Welcome Mrs. Shiva.
Mrs. Shiva: Thank You. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Newscaster 2: What was your reaction when you first heard about the Audrey 2?
Mrs. Shiva: I was very happy. Mushnik’s clientele was doing very poorly before Seymour Krelborn started taking care of the Audrey 2. Things started to get better for business after Audrey 2 was introduced to the general public of Skid Row
Newscaster I: When you heard about Mushnik’s sudden disappearance were you surprised?
Mrs. Shiva: Oh yes, it was very surprising when Mushink disappeared, rather unexpected as well.
Newscaster 2: Were you under suspiscion that Audrey 2 could have had something to do with his disappearance?
Mrs. Shiva: Not at first but then I heard something in the news about Audrey 2 needing human blood to keep living , I wasn’t sure if that was just my imagination or if it was true.
Newscaster 1: Well luckily we have Seymour Krelborn in the studio with us today in the studio because we plan to interview him and his wife Audrey later on in the broadcast, would you to like to ask him that question while we have here?
Mrs. Shiva: Yes, it would be great to have some clarification.
(Seymour enters and sits down in a chair across from Mrs, Shiva)
Newscaster 2: Welcome Seymour and thank you for being willing to talk to Mrs. Shiva today.
Seymour: You’re quite welcome. Hello Mrs. Shiva.
Mrs. Shiva: Hello Seymour, it’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you on the news. Perhaps you can shed some light on Audrey 2 for me and the pain it has caused to the clientele of Mushnik‘s Skid Row Flower Shop.
Seymour: To be honest I didn’t really expect Audrey 2 to be a blood thirsty monster I assumed it would be just be a normal plant like any other plant in my plant identification books but I was wrong.
Mrs. Shiva: Do you realize how much Mr. Mushnik cared about you?
Seymour: Yes, I do and I had a lot of respect for him. I didn’t want to feed him to Audrey 2 but it had a very controlling attitude unfortunately.
Mrs. Shiva: How much longer did the plant stay alive after Mushnik died?
Seymour: Not very long. It tried to eat Audrey and I would have been extremely devastated if Audrey had to succumb to Audrey 2’s greedy ways. I had to put my foot down. So I took out my machete and tore it to shreds and I am happy to report that no one will hear anything more about that horrid plant Audrey 2.
Mrs Shiva (smiling) Well that is good and very comforting to know. Thank you for your comforting clarification.
Seymour: You’re quite welcome.
(Seymour and Mrs. Shiva stand up ,shake hands and exit)
(Mrs. Scrivello enters and takes a seat in the chair that has been vacated by Mrs. Shiva)
Newscaster 1: We thank Mr. Krelborn for coming in. He will back later on in the show with his wife Audrey and they will talk about their life together since leaving Skid Row. Our next guest is Mrs. Edna Scrivello mother of deceased dentist Orin Scrivello. Welcome Mrs. Scrivello.
Mrs. Scrivello: Hello and thank you very much for having me on your show today.
Newscaster 1: You’re welcome. We’re delighted to have you. How have been dealing with the death of your son?
Mrs. Scrivello: I try to take things day by day. My son was very misunderstood by so many people.
Newscaster 1: How do you mean?
Mrs. Scrivello: I understand he may not have been the best match for Audrey romantically but I think others were far too judgmental of his love for dentistry.
Newscaster 1: In what way do you think they were to judgmental?
Mrs. Scribello: Well people thought that he had too much of a fascination or almost an obsession with other people’s pain. I would classify it more as a fascination than an obsession though. He had a true love for dentistry and think a lot of people overlooked that about him because they thought he was too obsessed with other people’s pain.
Newscaster 1: When you heard the news that Orin’s office had been ransacked did you have any suspicion that it might have had something to do with Audrey 2?
Mrs. Scrivello: Well I did see a bag and a baseball cap that looked they belonged to Seymour Krelborn at the scene of the crime but from the previous segment with Mrs. Shiva he seems like a nice boy. I didn’t think that he had anything to do with Orin’s death and I still don’t think he had a lot to do with his death.
Newscaster 1: What was the one thing that tipped you off to the idea that Seymour could have been innocent?
Mrs. Scrivello: The fact that the gas masks were all over the place. Orin was always playing around with the buttons on those stupid gas masks playing with the air intake controls. He always said it something to do with feeling the ultimate pleasure while he was operating on his patients but I warned him that it could be deadly. He never listened.
Newscaster 1: Who will take over for Orin? Was he the only dentist in your family?
Mrs. Scrivello: Sadly ,no. Orin was the only dentist in the family. No one else had such a passion for dentistry as he did.. It’s honestly the biggest shame.
Newscaster 1: Thank you for taking the time to meet us today Mr. Scrivello.
Mrs. Scrivello: You’re quite welcome
(Mrs. Scrivello exits. Seymour and Audrey enter and sit on the couch)
Newscaster 1: And now we welcome Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Krelborn to our set. Hello Audrey and Seymour.
Audrey: We’re very happy to be here today. Thank you for having us on your show this evening.
Newscaster 1: Seymour you spoke with Mrs Shiva earlier about your heroic destruction of Audrey 2. What have you and Audrey done since then.
Seymour: Well I got into quite a battle with the plant because it did not want to die it tried to eat me but I stood my ground. Mushnik’s Skid Row Flower Shop is no longer standing. Audrey and I have gotten married and we just returned from our honeymoon.
Newscaster 1: and where did you honeymoon?
Audrey: We went to Aruba on our honeymoon it was beautiful.
Newscaster 1: Where are you two currently living?
Audrey: Well if you recall the song “Somewhere That’s Green” from the musical I sang about living in a little development in a suburb far far from urban Skid Row. Seymour made that dream come true for me.
(Seymour and Audrey kiss)
Newscaster 1: And what professions do you both have?
Seymour: I opened a flower shop down the street from our house called Seymour’s House of Plants. Audrey works for me currently as a secretary but she is carrying our first child. We are very excited about becoming

Please Note: This script has been substanially updated since it's original posting. I will post the updated version when I get around to it.

2nd Milford Cabinet Artilce

This artilce will be published in the Milford Cabinet next Thursday Jan 22nd

The Candy man comes to life as
Riverbend Youth Company performs Willy Wonka Junior

By Janine Leffler

The Riverbend Youth Theatre Company at the Boys and Girls Club in Milford will be performing Willy Wonka Junior. Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world-famous candy man comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With songs from the film classic and some clever new additions, Willy Wonka Junior will delight audiences of all ages. Directed by Tom Partridge, choreographed by Bruce Williams, with music direction by Jennifer Erdody, this production includes over 58 children from Milford, Amherst, Wilton and surrounding towns.

Director Tom Partridge stated that the show is coming along well despite the difficulty with scheduling rehearsals due to power outages and ice storms. The junior version of the play differs from the original version as it is shorter and the introduction of squirrels replaces the goose that lays the golden egg. Musical director Jennifer Erdody said the most fulfilling aspect about this show has been working with all the talented and enthusiastic young actors.

For actor Conor Sandin, who plays Mr. Bucket, the hardest part about this show has been, “Getting into character. Mr. Bucket is an unhappy character, and my main song Think Positive required some serious unhappiness.” Sandin said that the most rewarding thing for him has been “Getting the dance for Think Positive down, along with the all the singing I do in the show.”

Hailey Aiken and Nicholas Hammes, who plays Charlie and Willy Wonka, both agree that the most challenging thing for them has been learning their lines and choreography in such little time due to many cancelled rehearsals. They both think the most rewarding part is making new friends. Aiken also expressed that she likes working on the show with an energetic group of people to put on a performance that other people will enjoy.

All three actors that I interviewed said they were very excited about the upcoming performances. Conor Sandin stated that he looks forward to “Cheers and clapping! Nothing's better than a satisfied audience.” All three of them are excited about putting on a show for an audience. The show will be a colorful, energetic musical that includes lively songs and choreography.

Performances will be on Friday January 23rd at 7:30 p.m., Saturday January 24th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday January 25th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Group rates available.

What will 2009 hold for me?

Happy New Year Everyone
As for many people the holidays were busy and hectic for me. I am glad they are over and sincereley hope the economy improves soon because I am really sick of looking for employment at this point. I am updating to write a review of holiday theatre preformances that I have seen.
On Dec 21st I saw The Christmas Spectacular at Peacock Players with my boyfriend Matt. That was a lovely way to divert my attention away from job search stress/disppointment. The Christmas Spectacular was a holiday variety show that featured current members and alumni of Peacock Players as well as some preformances from Northern Ballet Theatre Company who performed excepts from the Nutcracker. Familar christmas carols such as Silver Bells,Joy To The World, Carol of The Bells and I'll Be Home For Christmas were sung as well as more traditional pieces such as When Christmas Comes To Town (from the movie The Polar Express) I Want A Hippopotomus for Christmas, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, Can I Interest You In Hannaukah? and Dominc The Donkey. Overall it was a very enjoyable performance and it truly showed the array of talent amont the people who are currently and used to be in Peacock Players. Congrats to all!
I just got home from seeing my sister in her dance team performance of The Jazzy Nutcracker. This performance was supposed to be December 20th but got postponed due to the ice storm and power outages that ensued. The Nutcracker has always been a holiday favorite of mine though I have only seen it performed one other time when Rachel Barker was the sugar plum fairy at The Palace Theatre in Manchester a couple years ago. Anyway I was very impressed by this performance I have seen my sister's dance team perform a couple other times but this was a different expereince from the other times I have seen her perform. There is so much talent among everyone who is on the dance team and in the dance company and I was really impressed by the whole entire show. I think my two favorite dances were The Waltz of The Flowers and Chinese Tea. Good job to all!
Quite a few actors in theatres from shows in my local area are up for nominations for New Hampshire Theatre Awards including one of my friends from high school Ashley Hughes who was nominated for a best actress role for her performance in Peter Pan at a theatre in Peterborough. Peacock Players are up for a few awards to for various they have done this year and so are Milford Area Players. That's very exciting. I kind of really want to go the awards ceremony to see who wins . Hopefully I can find a ride there.
I am looking very foward to doing publicity and props for the PTA's production of Peter Pan. It will be fun to get to work with other people in my community who are involved in theatre who I have not yet had the opportunity to work with. YAY!!

Happy New Year

So Sunday was definitley a sad day on Broadway. I totally forgot to wear blackbut I was still in mourning. I am even more and more disappointed that I did not get to New York to see the Grease sooner then I did and soon Gypsy Spring Awakening and Forbidden Broadway Goes To Rehab will have the same fight. In light of disappointments however I am excited about seeing Billy Elliot when I go to New York in March with my boyfriend and there are so many shows that are opening up such as HAIR (which my friend Jay is in as understudy ... so excited for him :) ) and West Side Story. So there are some bright spots that are reasons for rejoicing amongt all the despair of show closings.

My theatre goals may have to be realigned as I am still in the process of finding a job that pays so I can start to pay back my loans from NEC. My internship at Peacock Players has been going really well though that doesn't start up again til next week and my schedule will fluctuate depending on what days I go into to substitute for elementary schools in Nashua School District. I am also going to be doing publicity and props work for my town's community production of Peter Pan which is April. I'm also hoping to get invovled in the theatre scene at the Tech College in Nashua where I will be taking classes in either Medical Coding or Early Childhood Ed once a week.

Upodates to follow as things start to come together

Love
Janine
