So You Think You Can Dance Top 12

First let's update who;s been elimiated since I haven't really kept track of that very well
Week 1: Wadi and Missy
Week 2: Robert and Melinda
Last Week: Ashley and Chris
My prediction for who will go home this week: Caitlyn and Mitchell. They really redeemed themseleves with their second routine but their first routine was the weakest of the season. OVerall they rate a 14 out of a possible score of 20. Their individual performances rated a 6 and an 8.

Tonight each couple preformed two routines. Here is how they rated.
(Listed by Genre in alphabetical order)
Broadway
Ryan and Ricky 7,5/10 This dance was pretty decent but not my favorite Broadway number that's been done on the show. Routines in this category must be FLAWLESS.
Jordan and Tadd 10/10 Great song choice and interesting interperatation of the song
Cha Cha
Ryan and Ricky: 8/10 Very sexy! Total:18
Contemporary
Jordan and Tadd 8/10 Interesting choice of song. Really liked this dance a lot Total: 18
Melanie and Markko 10.10 Beautiful
Hip Hop
Clarice and Jess 9/10 Dance was very well excecuted. Song was not well suited for the genre.
Caitlynn and Mitchell 6/10 100% in agreeance with Sonya's comments.
Jazz
Caitlynn and Mitchell 8/10 This performance could potentially save them from the bottom three. It all depends on how America votes
Sasha and Alexander 10/10 Nothing more to say about this routine other than it was beautiful.
Jive
Clarice and Jess 10/10 These routines are always high energy, entertaining and fun to watch.
Total: 19
The two latin numbers tonight were performed by Sasha and Alexander (Pase Doble, 7/10 Total: 17) and Melanie and Marrko (Tango, 8/10, Total: 18) Both were very intense, powerful and wonderful to watch.

Top Tier performances (if in blue it means I voted for them: Sasha and Alexander ,Clarice and Jess, Markko and Melaine
Middle Tier Perfomances : Jordan and Tadd, Ryan and Ricky
Bottom Tier Performance: Caitlynn and Mitchell

Please note: I will be away on vacation on July 28th so after next week the next time I will update will be August 3rd.

So You Think You Can Dance Top 20

Last week I missed So You Think You Can Dance but no matter because no one went home. Of course this means a double elimination this week.

Top 10 Couples
Ricky and Ryan
Caitlynn and Mitchell
Wadi and Missy
Nick and Iveta
Clarice and Jess
Jordan and Tadd
Miranda and Robert
Melanie and Markoo
Sasha and Alexander
Ashley and Chris

Breakdown of Routines
Bollywood These numbers are always entertaining. This time around the nunmber was done by Nick and Iveta. Very energetic and entertaining though I think Iveta is a stronger dancer than Nick. Rating out of 10: 10
Broadway I perfer Tice Diorio's choreography over Spencer Liff but I thought this routine was outstanding and very well done. Not too familiar with the song though or the show it was from. Rating out of 10: 9
Cha Cha This dance was moderate at best. Wadi and Missy executed the song well but Wadi was very weak in some of his moves and did not compliment Missy well. Rating out of 10: 5
Contemporary Two beautifully chreographed numbers by Stacey Tookey performed by Caitlynn and Mitchell and Clarice and Jess. Both of these pieces were very emotional and powerful. Rating out of 10 C & M: 10 C& J: 9
Hip Hop: Two amazing Nappy Tabs numbers performed by Sasha and Alexander and Miranda and Robert Out of the two Sasha andd Alexander's number won my vote because of the powerful emotion it portrayed. Not to mention the timeliness of the piece as the story line was about a soilder coming home from Afghanistan and earlier this evening President Obama announced his plans for troop withdrawl for the war in Afghanistan AMEN! Ratings out of 10: M&R 6 S&A 10
Jazz Ricky and Ryan and Melaine and Markko excuecuted their numbers quite well and did amazing. Very impressive. Both couples comoliment eachother well. Ratings out of 10 : Both couples got a 9.
Viennese Waltz Jordan and Tadd. Not a HUGE fan of the genre but I thought Jordan and Tadd did very well with this routine. It was very beautiful. Rating out of 10 6

So You Think You Can Dance Finale Summary

So You Think You Dance Season 7 Finale Summary

Battaling out: Kent Lauren and Robert

Who got my vote Kent
Winner: Lauren

Ratings

Kent Routine 1: 8 Routine 2: 5.5 Routine 3: 9 Routine 4: 7 Solo:8 Total : 36

Lauren: *Routine 1: 5 Routines 2 &3 9 Routine 4 6.5 Solo: 7 Total: 31.5

* did not see whole routine Score based on portion I saw at the end of the show when they showed the phone #s

Robert: Routines 1&2: 9 Routine 3:6.5 Routine 4: 7 Solo 5 Total:34.5

Summary broken down by Genre

Bollywood This was Kent's first routine of the evening. Bollywood has never been one of my top favorite genres but I must admit it has grown on me in the past couple season. The thing I like best about this particular genre is the high energy. Kent and all star Lauren had good chemistry.

Broadway Once again Robert was paired up with all star Kathryn. They danced to Cool from West Side Story. Robert and Kathryn are very evenly matched pair. The story behind the dance was that Robert was being interrogated and the sexy police officer Kathryn is sent in to question him Loved the story line. Didn't care much for the dance. While it did do Jerome Robbins good justice it was not one of my favorite Broadway routines I've seen on the show.

Cha Cha Lauren has been known for her sultry and sexy performances all season. This one was no differet then the rest. Not one of my favorite performances by her. Her contemporary piece with Robert on the other hand is definitley in my list of top performances she has done this season.

Contemporary The dances in this genre never cease to amaze me.. the two performances

tonight were no differet. In the first one Robert and Lauren were paired up. They were phenominal together in my honest opinon. I don't know if they were paired up in previous episodes but if they haven't been the producers certainly know how to save the best for last. They showed the rawest emotion I think I've ever seen. Kent was paired up with all star Allison for the second piece. The story behind it was a couple in a turbulrant relationship trying to work things through. Truly amazing. I have a feeling Kent is going to win. If he doesn't I will be incredibly surprised and amazingly disappointed. While all three contestants have grown significantly since the start of this season Kent has shown the most energy, gutso, grace and maturity.

Jazz Two high energy performances that took watchers on a flashback to the 80s. For the first piece Robert was paired up with all star Marc and they danced to Whip It by Devo. Very interesting take on the song and an overall entertaining performance. In the second routine Kent and Lauren danced to Hip To Be Square by Huey Lewis and News. I was not as impressed with this routine as I was with Whip It . While I felt this routine was a tad cheesy for my taste Lauren and Kent have really good chemistry.

The final routine was a new type of Latin Dance which was performed by Robert and Kent. I can't remember the exact name of it but I wish they'd introduced sooner than finale because I thought it was awesome... not to mention wicked intensse
Overall this season of So You Think You Can Dance has not really all been desirable for me. I found myself bored a majority of the time. Imjury plagued the dances and took my three favorites out of the compettion too early. Though Billy made it to the double elimination round. All dances seemed to be the same to me and very few stood out to me as outstanding. I was really rooting for Kent to win but I guess you really can't be choosy. Kent Lauren and Robert will all have really great careers and Billy and Alex definitley will too. Not sure about the rest of them.

Getting closer and closer to the end each week

So You Think You Can Dance Week 7 Summary
Nobody went home last week which means double elimination this week. Last week's bottom 3 was Jose Billy and Robert. All three have been in the bottom 3 at least once before.. perhaps twice. Billy isn't going anywhere near the bottom this week no way no how! He had his best week yet this week and I think he has solid chances of winning. Kent and Robert have definitley grown on me since the beginning of the compettion and ever since Alex Wong was eliminated they definitley began to shine through especially in the past two weeks. Lauren is definitley a contender and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being her and Billy in the finale. Adechekie has been in the middle of my ratings list all season so all of his performances tend to even out. Jose has pretty much used up all his chances. He is just as talented as any of the other dancers in the compettion but when it comes to versatility that is where he lacks. He is only good in his genre and struggles with everything else his is assigned to dance.
Ratings:
Adechekie Dance 1; 5 Dance 2:7 Solo: 5 Total 17
Billy Dance 1 and Dance 2: 8 Solo: 5 Total 21
Jose Dance 1: 7 Dance 2 6 Solo 4 Tota1 17
Kent Dance 1 6.5 Dance 2 7 Solo 5 Total 18
Lauren Dance 1: 6 Dance 2 7 Solo 4 Total 17
Robert Dance 1 and Dance 2 8 Solo 7 Total 23
Each dancer was paired up with an all star and then paired up with each other. I will divide the break down of my anaylsis by genre
Bollywood This week Robert and Billy got this genre and I must say it's fast becoming on my favorites. It's always interesing to watch. They did a really good job with it.
Broadway
Lauren and allstar Allison They danced to Who's Got The Pain from Damn Yankees. Very energetic routine. I very much enjoyed it.
Kent and Jose danced to a song from Kiss Me Kate. The title of the song escapes me right now. This is Kent's strongest genre and Jose's weakest. Jose did a little bit better with showing emotion then he did in last week's Mr. Cellophane routine but overall I think Kent definitley outshone him.
Contemporary
In one routine Billy was paired up with all star Ade and they danced a beautiful routine to Mad World. Stacey Tookey is starting to become a pretty talented chreographer... right up there with Mia Michaels and Travis Wall. The story behind the piece was that two men from two different worlds. Ade was a business man who was really well off and Billy was a homeless person. They discover later on in the story that they are old friends. Just a really powerful story about the power struggle between people from different walks of life. The second contemporary routine was also choreographed by Stacey Tookey and was performed by Robert and all star Kathryn another very well matched pair..though I must say they have done a pretty good job this season of matching up the alll stars with the contestats. Kathryn and Robert has amazing chemistry and I almost cried by the end of their piece. Both contemporary pieces were absoulutely gorgeous and well excueted.
Foxtrot
This routine was performed by Adecheieke and Lauren and it pretty much stole the show. I think that was the best pairing Adechieke has had all season. Very sultry and sexy. I have similar opinions of Kent and Anya's Cha- Cha
Hip Hop I didn't care for this week's hip hop performance. I don't know what I didn't like about it but something was off about it.
Results
Bottom 3 Billy Jose Lauren Eliminated: Billy and Jose
The double elimination would have not left a sour note with me if someone else other than Billy had been eliminated. Whille the three other boys have grown in leaps and bounds since the beginning of the compettion in all honesty when you look at big picture and not just this week's performances Adecheike has been the weakest. Other opinions may vary but that's honestly how I feel. I feel like there were some genres he could have done a lot better in but to balance things out he did have his shining moments. I was very happy Jose went home tonight. He should have gone home three weeks ago.
The finale can be anyone's game now that Billy's out. Lauren definitley has a good chance. As for the reamaining guys I'm rooting for either Robert or Kent.
Next week I am bypassing watching so I can be surprised with who gets into the finale.. either that or I have just interest in the show all together now that all the good dancers are gone and only sub par/mediocre dancers remian.

Instead of summarizing I rant

Normally I would be watching So You Think You Can Dance right now but I have no interest in doing so. Billy Bell is injured and he was honestly the main reason I have been watching all season. It is so annoying that the good dancers keep getting injured. First Alex, then Ashley now Billy. Makes me wonder who could be next if anyone. The people who remain are Kent, Lauren, Robert,Adecheieke and Jose. The only one I feel could make it to the finale is Robert though Kent has grown in leaps and bounds since the start of the compettion. Haven't been a huge fan of Lauren and Jose. Jose seems to have an issue with breaking out of his comfort zone and I'm really surprised he has made it this far. Last week's perfromance of Mister Cellophane from Chicago was horrible and he showed no emotion what soever. His hip hop routine with all-star Dominic was what kept him in. I have a feeling the tour this year will have the same fate as the American Idol tour. The fact that the top dancers have been injured will definitley have a negative affect on ticket sales.

Seriously I am not even voting this week.. if I do I will vote for Robert.

Week 5 So You Think You Can Dance

I am getting really bored with So You Think You Can Dance to be perfectly honest. This season has not had very many standout performances for me.. though there were a few this week that were amazing. I'll cut to the chase on the results so I do not have to talk about it at the end of the entry. Bottom 3: Billy Ashley Jose. Once again we lose another great dancer due to injury. Last week it was Alex. This week it was Ashley. Hopefully Ashley will still get to go on the tour. I understand the circumstances which led to Ashley's departure since she didn't perform and it would have been unfair for her to continue but Jose was horrible last night and he has been weak for mostly the whole compettion. He has made great strides recently but overall he is not up to par with the other men in the compettion Billy Robert and Adechekie. Lauren is the only girl left and I think she has a good chance of making top 5.

2 broadway numbers 1 which was amazing and one which was not so amazing. The first was done by Jose and Courtney and they did a routine to Mr. Cellophane from Chicago in which Courtney played the show girl and Jose played the lovesick stagehand. This by far was Jose's weakest performane of all the ones he has done. He showed no emotion what so ever. (Side note- I will be seeing Chicago @ Summer Theatre in Meredith Village on the 31st and I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE SHOW! ) The second Broadway number was done by Kent and all star Neil. They did a routine to Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Missouri from Damn Yankees. I found this song ironically approriate because the owner of the NY Yankees George Steinbrenner died of a heart attack on Tuesday and this song is from a musical about the Yankees. The routine was very energetic and fun to watch.
Billy still remains one of my top favorites and I really hope he wins or at least makes it to the top 5. He has been in the bottom 3 for the past 2 weeks which isn't really a good sign. His two genres were Jive and Contemporary. The Jive is always fun to watch and the contemp was very enjoyable. Robert danced a very powerful contemporay piece chreographed by Travis Wall (my second favorite contemp choreographer aside from Mia Michaels whose choreography I greatly miss.) which was about a mother who is suffering from cancer and her son having to deal with it. I was almost crying by the end of the dance for sure. For his second number he did disco which was very enjoyable to watch.

So You Think You Can Dance Summary

Weeks 3 and 4 So You Think You Can Dance
Who has been eliminated up to this point: Alexie Christina and Melinda
A double dose of SYTYCD since I forgot to update last week. Last week I missed half the show because I was conducting interviews for my most recent Milford Cabinet Article about the MAP Play The Pursuit of Happiness. I can't recall everyone who was in the bottom 3 last week but what I do remember was that Melinda went home and that made me happy because she never impressed me from the beginning. This week there were not very many outstanding performances with the exception of Billy's Broadway # (Macavity from CATS) and Ashley's hip hop # (Ninjas).

Here are my performance rankings for this week
Alex missed hus performance
Ashley 8
Adecheke 5
Billy 9
Jose 7.5
Kent 5.5
Lauren 6
Robert 8

Bottom 3: Ashley Alex Billy
Alex was not eliminated due to # of votes he was injured during his performance and has to leave the show to get surgury and rehab and that eliminated him for the rest of the season. I hope he comes back next season because he was a force to be reckoned with and will go all the way to win. As for who I think will be in the top 5. It will be something like this
1. Ashley
2. Billy
3. Robert
4. Jose
5. Lauren

Ho Hum

Sonething about So You Think You Can Dance really turns me off this season. I think it has something to do with the idea of having All Stars thrown into the mix. None of the routines in the past two eposodes have really caught my attention. I feel this may be my last season watching the show.

Top 10

Adechecke

Alex

Ashley

Billy

Christina

Jose

Kent

Lauren

Melinda

Robert

Who I voted for: Alex and Laruen

Still rather disappointed Alexie went home last week. I think she really would have done well this week. I missed Adeccheke's and Chritinsa's performances but based on the snipit I saw when they showed the phone #s at the end of the show they looked pretty good. They won't get rated unfortunatley since I didn't see the whole performance. We'll stat with #3

3 Alex

Genre Broadway

Rating out of 10: 7

Comments: Fosse=LOVE! As I said last week he and Billy are forces to be reckoned with this season. Everything about this routine was amazng.

4. Ashley

Genre Jazz

Rating out of 10: 8

Comments: It was really hard to choose when it came down to voting between her perforamne and Lauren's. Both girls have their own set of unique talents and both routines were very emotional.

5. Billy

Genre Krump

Rating Out of 10:4

Comments: This took him out of his contempory comfort zone and I don't think he fared too well. Not one of my favorite routines at all. I hope it doesn't put him in dange or going home.

6. Robert

Genre: Argentinan Tango

Rating out of 10:9

Comments: Argentinian Tango is not one of my favorite genres but I feel he excuted it very well.

7/ Melinda

Genre: Contempory

Rating Out of 10: 8

Comments: Definitley came a full 180* degree turn from last week's performances. Very emotiomal and powerful. Ade complimented her well as a dance partner.

8. Jose

Genre Bollywood

Rating out 0f 10:9

Comments One of the best dances of the the night by far,... very enjoyable to watch.

9, Lauren

Genre: Lyrical Hip Hop

Rating out of 10" 10

Comments No other words can describe this dance except Beautiful!

10 Kent

Genre Jazz 7.5

Comments: His sexy side came out with a fierceness.

Predicted Bottom 3: Kent, Melinda Billy

Reults

Bottom 3: Cristina Melinda Robert

Who went home Cristina

My predictions were 1 for 2. Melinda had the weakest solo out of the three and should haw gone home. If she doesn't deliver an outstamding performance next week she will most likely go ho,e/ Robert was one of the stronger guys last night. I would have picked Billy or Kent to be in the bottom, over him. Billy's performance was the weakest one last night but he will continue to sdo well and I think it will come down to him and either Alex or Lauren in the finale. If Billy had not gotten sick last year it would have been FIERCE to see him and Jakob Karr square off in the finale.

So You Think Can Dance Week 1

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 is off to a so so start. This year they are doing All Stars. I am not sure I like this idea because I would much rather see this season's dancers paired up with each other. Most of the dances had good chemistry with their all star counterparts. I also don't like how the went directly to top 10 (top 11) I think having top 20 allowa rhe dancers moew time to get used to specifc styles which is what I honestly think was lacking in some of tonight's performances
Top 11

I am wicked happy Billy is back. He made it through to Vegas last year but then got sick and had to leave the show. Out of the guys I think him and Alex will be forces to be reckoned with At this point the only strong girls that I can see are Ashley and Alexie. The others stil have lots of room to grow.

Performances
Ratings 1-10 1 Horrible 10 Amazzing
Adechekie and Melinda had the weakest performances tonight rating a 6 and a 5 respectively. While Travis Wall's chreography is amazing this particualar Jazz performance was not one of the best. While Melinda's Jive was energetic and fun to works there were a few things the judges pointed out techinically that made the performance weak. Both of them could easily be in dancger fo going home. Out of the two hip hop perfoemances I liked Alexie's better. Her and Twitch definitley had a lot of good chemistry. Jose definitley broke out of his comfort zone and has a lot of room to grow through the rest of the season. Billy's performace of Footloose whie not one of my top favorite Broadway pieces is pretty up there. He is FLAWLESS. Alex's contemporay was absolutely breathtaking... i really have no other words to describe it besides that. I wasn't a huge fan of the pop jazz or Cha Cha pieces though Kent is pretty firece. I think that he will have it really tough against Billy and Alex as will Adecheke and Robert. Jose seems to be in a category that I can't classify. African Jazz is starting to become one of my favoire genres on the show and Robert did fabulous with his sxcuetion of the routine.

Who went home Alexie
Not happy about these results at all. Alexie was much better than Adacheke and should have not gone home. She would have done really well if she had stayed next week, Adecheeke in my opinion was one of the weakest dancers and Kent was not that great either. I hope they don't continue to eliminate the good dancers or else the show will not be worth watching at all.

Update

This entry consists of a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

I recently went to two benefit concerts and I am going to another tomorrow. The first benefit concert was on April 23rd and it was a benefit for victims of January earthquake in Haiti. I got there a littl late because of I got of work at 6:00. The concert featured local bands Undertow, The Fitted Shirt,The Yellow Team and The Sea Captains (which has two fellow SHS music department members Chris St Lawrence and Marty Morrissey) The concert was organized by Kelly Dubois a senior at SHS and I must say was enjoyable and very well organized. The second benefit concert was last weekend at Moultoborough Academy in Moultonborugh. This benefit concert was for Summer Theatre in Meredith Village and was comprised of four performers Brittany Bara,Maxim Gijkham, Brooke White and Scott Sowinski This concert had a variety of music in it which varied from Broadway hits to songs from this seasons shows. Lots of a great songs and way too many to pick a favorite. L00king so forward to this season at Summer Theatre in Meredith Village! The third benefit concert is tomorrow night and it was organized by my sister and her Ethics Forum class. I am looking forward to it because I went to it last year and enjoyed myself. The Sea Captains are performing as well as a few other local bands.

My next journalistic ventue was writing an article on summer stock theatre for NH To Do Magazine. The July Issue will be out in a few weeks and I am very excited to have my first magaine piece published. Yay!

After much discussion Rae Matt and I finally came to a mutal decision about what shows to see in New York. We decided to see Jersey Boys and Come Fly With Me. I am very excited about seeing these shows especially Jersey Boys. My parents saw that in Chicago last year and I have heard good things about it from them. Our back ups are Billy Elliot, West Side Story and In The Heights. Hopefully we are able to get good ticket discounts.

American Idol Finale: It was Crystal and Lee down to the wire. Lee ended up winning which was shocking because I was almost positive that Crystal had it in the bag. Oh well they will both have amazing careers post Idol
Glee: The finale is next week. It seems like this part of the season was shorter in comparison to the first half of the season. I missed last week's episode but in that episode it was discovered that Shelby, the coach of Vocal Adreneline is Rachel's mom. I am very happy about this. I think Lea Michele and Idina Menzel make a dynamic pair. Not to mention they look like twins. I felt bad for Rachel in this week's episode because the people from Vocal Adrenaline ganged up on her. Jesse didn't particular look like he wanted to be involved but reluctantly joined in leaving Rachel in the parking lot covered with eggs. The queestion of where Quinn has been living was finally answered. I had been confused about that for several weeks. She is living with Puck but Mercedes invited her to move in with her so I am happy about that.. an unexpected twist in the plot.
So You Think You Can Dance: I didn't think I would be watching So You Think You Can Dance because last season left me really unfullfilled. This season they are doing allstar picking a top 10 intead of a top 20 and bringing back people from previous seasons. I am looking forward to watching and I didn't think I would be saying that. Mia Michaels is back as a judge which makes me elated. Mary Murphy is gone which makes me even happier.

So You Think You Can Dance Finale Recap

So You Think You Can Dance Finale Recap

Dec 15/16

Top 6

Ashleigh

Ellenore

Jakob

Kathryn

Ryan

Russsell

Predicted Top 3

1. Jakob He has truly been FABULOUS all season long and has amazed and impressed with me with every dance he has done. Nigel suggested that he join a professional dance company once the season is over and any dance company he joins would be very blessed to have him.

2. Kathryn Channing was my favorite girl dancer for most of the season.. it was after she got voted off the week before Thanksgiving that I truly realized how talented and versatile Kathryn is. To me she has definitley grown as a performer this season and her performances have never once diasppointed me. The only performance that I didn't see as a particular stand out was her Broadway routine with Legacy.

3. Russell He has been one of my favorite male dancers this season and like Kathryn has truly grown into a versatile dancer. Let me just point out that it was incredibly hard to vote between him and Jakob.. I really wanted to vote for both of them because they are both amazing dancers. SUCH a hard decision if you consider how far both of them have come this season.

Peformance Show Summary

Jakob

Ratings: Routine 1: 10 Routine 2: 9 Routine 3: 10 Total 29

Jakob started off the evening dancing with Ellenore. Their genre was was Broadway. Seriously they had the best chemistry all season and I wish they had been paired up sooner. It was one of the best Broadway routines this season. Perfect ten. His second routine was with Ashleigh. They were together at the beginning of the season and it was great to see them dance together one final time. Once again they complimented eachother really well. For his final routine he was paired up with Kathryn and they pretty much stole the show with an amazing contemporary piece. Emotional. Powerful. Beautiful lines. This routine was the clincher for me in deciding who got my vote.

Ryan

Ratings Routine 1: 6.5 Routine 2 7 Routine 3 8 Total 21

Ryan began the evening being paired up with Kathryn dancing a Samba. The latin genre has some dances that stand out to me not this one however... I actually perfer tango. Three words can describe this dance Sassy Sexy and Sensual. Ryan looked a bit stiff during this routine. The second time around he was paired with Ellenore for a Jazz routine. Didn't really care for this routine at all to be honest. However they did compliment eachother really well. I will give them credit for that. To round at the night he danced with wife Ashleigh. They are truly gorgeous together when they dance.. my breath was taken away. One of the best contemporary routines I have seen this season.

Russell

Ratings: Routine 1: 8 Routine 2: 9 Routine 3: 7 Total: 24

Russell had a very good night tonight.. the best of the season actually and as I said earlier it was next to impossible to choose between him and Jakob when it came to voting. He began the evening dancing a Lyrical Jazz piece with Ashleigh. One of my favorite routines of the night. Very powerful and emotional. I could seriously almost feel their emotions penetrate through the tv screen.. that is how powerful that routine was for me. Next he was paired up with Ellenore for a Pase Doble... as I said in my commentary for Ryan's routines my favorite dance of the Latin genre is tango but out of all the Pase Dobles I have seen this seaosn this one was the best one. Ellenore was a powerful and emotional dancer in these piece and really shone brightly and almost outdanced Russsell but he was still good. He rounded out the evening dancing with Kathryn and what a great way to end the night. They danced a Nappy Tabs Hip Hop routine which was very fluid and NSYNC. Hip Hop is not my favorite dance style on this show but was definitley my favorite routine of the season in that style.

Results!!!
6th Place Ryan
5th Place Ashleigh
4th Place Elllenore
3rd Place Kathryn
2nd Place Jakob
WINNER Russell
The only thing shocking about these results was that Russell won over Jakob. Everything else was pretty obvious based on Tuesday's performances. As I said in my summary of the performance show it was incredibly hard for me to choose between Jakob and Russell when it came to picking my favorite guy. They both had their share of outstanding routines this season and each had at least one or two routines that particular routines that stood out to me (Russell-Afro Jazz with Noelle and Lyircal Jazz with Ashleigh. Jakob- Contemp with Kathryn and Broadway piece with Mollee) This has been an up and down season for me but tonight's results have definitley redeemed my faith in the show and I am definitley excited about next season. Bring it on Season 7! Can't wait for the summer!
Results show musical performances
Leona Lewis- I liked this performance. The song has a good message behind it. Avatar looks like an interesting movie but I really wouldn't put it in my top list of movies to see. Rating out of 10:9
Mary J Blige: Not typically a big fan of her music but I enjoyed her performance last night. Rating out of 10: 8.5
Adam Lambert: Something about him in general does not set well with me. It has nothing whatsoever to do with sexuality. It would think I would most likely have to do with the he was never my favorite on American Idol last year and that his performances seem to be a tad over theatrical. This one seemed a little bit more down to earth. Rating out of 10: 6
JLO- Usually I am a huge JLo fan. There was something about this performance that I wasn't to crazy about. Can't put my finger on exactly what it was though. I liked how she featured girls from this season and previous seasons in her routine. Rating out of 10:5.5

Thought of the day

I just read an article online about So You Think You Can Dance and how the judges pretty much rigged the voting system so Ashleigh and Ryan could make it into the finale.
Keep in mind that Ashleigh did not even dance last week because she was injured. Mollee who got sent home danced absolutley pheonominal and should have been in the finale instead of her. While Mollee wasn't my favorite all season she grew on me after awhile and really statrted to show maturity in her dancing once the partner switch ups occured a few weeks ago. Her broadway # with Jakob last week was truly the best one yet. Ashleigh on the other hand is a pretty average dancer in my books as is Ryan. Ryan only had about one or two routines that stood out to me all season long and his solos were boring and very repettivie. Ashleigh did not really have any memorable routines by my standards and her solos were mediocre.
Originally I thought this was all just talk and people were just saying it because they were mad that Mollee and Legacy did not make it into the finale. Now that it appears to be fact I am less than amused and just as angered and upset as others on the chatboard on fox.com are.

If this supposed to be a contest for America's Favorite Dancer where does America's vote even matter? I don't see how the voting public even matters if the judges and producers have such a high matter opinion of who should be in the top dancers. This show is nothing more but another realtiy show popularity contest. True talent apparently does not seem to matter anymore. If it did Channing and Victor would be in the finale and NOT Ashleigh and Ryan.

I am in total disgust over this. My faith in this show has gone way down. It seems to have lost any type of creditibilty it used to have.

Like many others on the fox.com chat board Season six may be the last season of So You Think You Can Dance that I watch. Shame on you Fox for letting creadibility slip away. You are losing many viewers because of this... not just me.

So You Think You Can Dance/ Glee Weekly Update

So You Think You Can Dance and Glee Weekly Update
Wednesday Dec 9th

I will talk about Glee first and then move effortlessly into talking about SYTYCD

I LOVED THE FINALE while a tad predictable because of build up from previous episodes it was AMAZING!

Mercedes's audition for the ballad was amazing. I felt bad for her when she was seeing the other group at sectionals singing it. She would of nailed it.
How diid the other Gleeks expect Rachel not to find out.. they were kind of dumb to think she would't figure it out and tell Finn. I felt REALLY bad for him but loved how he came through for everyone at the end despite how angry he was at Quinn and Puck.
Will and Emma!! YES!! I was dead on about them getting together.
Don't Rain on My Parade- BEST MUSICAL # of the whole show. I LOVE LEA MICHELE!
I love how Pricinpal Figgins totally bitched out Sue about leaking the set list. She definitley got what she had coming to her Glee Club is victorious and can't be brought down.
I loved how Emma went up to the the teachers from the other two schools and told it like it was about how they cheated and how it doesn't reflect very good on them as teachers. That is so true! Way to go Emma!

and to add: Glee has been nominated for 4 Golden Globe Awards!! 2 for best musical drama 1 for best Actor Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) an 1 for Best Actress Jane Lynch ( Sue Sylvester)

Edit 1/1/10 Too lazy to make a seperate entry

Top 10 Songs from Season 1 of Glee

1. (tie) Don't Rain on My Parade and I'm Tellling You I'm Not Going ( so hard to choose between these two)

2. Sweet Caroline

3. Young Girl/ Don't Stand So Close To Me

4. (tie) Proud Mary and True Colors

5. Don't Stop Beleving

6. Maybe This Time
7. My Life Would Suck Without You

8 Defying Gravity

9. Bust A Move

10. Dancing With Myself

Imagine is not too far behind nor is Lean On Me

Top 5 Least Favorite Songs from Season 1 of Glee

1. Hair and Crazy in Love Mashup I think this song did a total injustice to the title song from HAIR which is a really good showtune. It was a bas idea on the part of the producers of the show to combine it with Crazy In Love. Beyonce and Broadway showtunes do not mix. I was glad that song was not on the CD. I would have instantly skipped over it if it was.

2. Don't Make Me Over

3. (You're) Having MY Baby This song was just horrendous to listen to, I just skip over it on the cd.

4. Crush

5. Gold Digger
NOW for SYTYCD!!

Top 6 Pairings and Genres

Couples:Jakob & Mollee – Broadway (Joey Dowling), Viennese Waltz (Jason Gilkison)
The Viennese Waltz is not one of my favorite styles of dance but you have to admit it is beautiful. Jakob and Mollee had beautiful chemistry in this dance and wonderful lines. For the Broadway routine they danced to one of my favorite songs Easy Street from Annie. They did fabulous with capturing the emotions of the chracters.

Legacy & Ellenore – Contemporary (Travis Wall), Hip Hop (Nappy Tabs)
Very interesting concept behind the contemporary. Quite an intense number. Not sure it was one of my favorite performances of the season but still worth watching. The hip hop # was average at best and I didn't understand the story behind it. They had amazing chemistry. :) I love Nappy Tabs.

Ryan & Kathryn - Disco, Cha-Cha
The disco was fun and entertaining to watch. It doesn't seem like Ryan really danced a lot and was very stiff. That could bring down the partnership. On a scale of 1-10 the ChaCha rates a 5.5 overall in terms of sexiness and sasiness. It was good otherwise. Hopefully both of these performances will keep Kathryn OUT of the bottom 2.

Russell & Ashleigh – Hip Hop (Shane Sparks),Bollywood

Ashleigh was out due to an injured shoulder so Russell had to dance with the chreographer. This is not the first time Russell has been in this situation this season. This could bring him down this week which is a concern. Russell was good in the hiphop routine .

RESULTS
Top 4: Ashleigh Jakob Kathryn Russell
Bottom 4: (bolded- went home) Ellenore Legacy Mollee Ryan
Why do I have a feeling the fox.com message boards are going to be full with a lot of upset postings about tonight's results show? I am right along with them,I'm afraid. The voting on this show is most certainly rigged. Legacy was SO much better than Ryan last night and it is definitely not fair that Ashleigh got in to the finale when she didn't even DANCE last night... she got in purely because of SYMPATHY votes. She had very few routines that stood out to me this season and her solos were mediocre. In comparison, Mollee who was never my favorite from the beginning of the season has grown on me and has grown into an incredibly versatile dancer. She will be missed in finale.

This season has been full of shortcomings and I am left unsure if I will continue to watch next season.
Negative things about this season
  • Mia Michaels not being a choreographer or judge
  • Adam Shankman being a permanent judge- I have lots of love for Adam but I also liked hearing differnt view points from other people each week and it gets boring having commentary by the same people each week.
  • I found that there were very few dances that were memorable this season. Out of all the dances I would only say about 5 or 6 were memorable as opposed to last season where there tons more routines that stood out. Those listed in my favorite dances list below are the ones that truly stood out and were the ones that I'll look back on and remember
  • The fact that this season was so soon after the summer season.
  • The fact that Nigel was so incredibly rude and degrading to Nathan. See my post from November 27th.

RESULTS!!
Bottom 4 Dancers: Kathryn Noelle Nathan Ryan
Dancers who went home: Noelle and Nathan
While I was hoping Nathan would go home tonight I don't think he left with very much confidence and that was mostly Nigel's fault for putting him down EVERY single time after he danced. He would have been a lot more confident in himself and taken more pride in his work if Nigel had not been so over critical of him. I haven't been a huge Nathan fan all season but I've been seeing a lot of negative posts about him on the message boards on fox.com and I would just like to say something positive about him for once. Sure, he's only 17 and a lot of the other more dancers are more seasoned then him but everyone has their own talents. He is very talented in his own respect and his solos were amazing. I thought he did better in all of his solos as opposed to how he did in a majority of his couple numbers. I think with all the knowledge he has gained from the show he will take that to only broaden his career.. SYTYCD is only a starting point for all of these dancers. I'm sure he will do amazing things. Not so sure either of the girls who were in the bottom two deserved to be there. Both Noelle and Kathryn were very versatile dancers. Ashleigh on the other hand is a very mediocre dancer and should have gone home.. her solo did absolutley nothing at all for me last night. Not sure I'm such a huge SYTYCD fan as I have been in previous seasons. Refer to my entry from Friday. Reasons why are outlined there.

As for Glee... This week's episode was intense
*Yearbook Photos: Will thought that the Glee Club was getting gypped by not getting their photos in the yearbook so he nominated Rachel to be captain of the Glee Club. She has a bit of an issue getting people to agree to be her co-captain but Finn agree but she ends up having to fly solo.
Commercial Quality: Rachel lands the Gleeks in a tv commercial for a local mattress store with the help of the yearbook photographer. That musical number was the best one I have seen all season long. However once Sue Sylvester gets wind of it she uses it as another way to bring Glee Club down.
*Relationship Shakeup: Will finds out about the fake pregnancy and flips his lid leaving Terri in the dust. I wonder if they will get back together or if he will end up with Emma.
*Brownie Points For Quinn: My least favorite character all season long has been Quinn. One reason why I don't like her is because she is using Finn and stringing him along thinking the baby is his when it is really Puck's. She did something admirable tonight standing up to Sue who kicked off the Cheerios because she was pregnant and because of her pregnancy wouldn't let her be in the yearbook picture because she didn't think she was a good role model for the rest of the cheerleaders. Shall we say, open mouth insert foot? Quinn pretty much told it like it is that Glee Club is a place where she belongs and Cheerios isn't because the Gleeks are more accepting of her and her pregnancy then Sue is. Way to Go Quinn!
Waiting so anxiously for next week's finale.

Going downhill

Since I already did my weekly So You Think Dance review summary I figured I would just talk about the show in general for a minute and how somewhat diasppointing it has been this season.

Since the first season in 2003 I have been hooked and have watched every single season up to the current one. I have been reading a lot of threads on the fox.com message boards in which various people have said that the show has gone downhill this season and I completley concur with thier opinions. The show is becoming less and less interesting and sorry to say more and more predictable with each passing week. First off I think it was a huge mistake for them to do Season 6 so soon after season 5. That threw me off from the start of course my viewership of both So You Think You Can Dance and Glee have been rather sporadic due to academic reasons plus I typically avoid watching the audition episodes because they tend to drag out and all the drama gives me a headache. The show says it's supposed to be the search for America's favorite dancer.. I am beginning to disagree with this statement a lot because lately it seems like the judges opinions have a big part in who goes foward to the next round and America's votes are really put on the back burner. They cut the GOOD dancers like Victor and Channing and keep the not so good ones, Mollee and Nathan referred to by Mary Murphy as the Dream Team. I like a majority of the other couples who made it to the top 10 and am happy one of the couples I was originally rooting for from Day 1 is still in the contest, Russell and Noelle, Compared to the other dancers on the show Mollee and Nathan are a lot less mature and less seasoned then the other dancers and I personally think that they only reason they are getting so many votes is because the teenage girls think Nathan is so cute. Very few of thier numbers have stood or been memorable while Channing and Victor who have been voted off in the past two weeks gave amazing performances, sure their solos might have been weak but their partner performances were good. Mollle and Nathan on the other hand had the WEAKEST solos this week and Mollee's ankle injury was definitley a deficit to her performances in my opinion. Another mistake they have made is changing the stage. I liked the stage the way it was and do not at all understand why they had to change it.. the ligthing design is also bad from what i've been reading on the fox.com message board I haven't really noticed that very much though. Also one of the best chreographers Mia Michaels has left the show. This saddens me because her pieces were award winning and she one one of my favorite choreographers.

So is it the contest for America's favorite dancer or a contest for who the judge's favorites are?

I think it's moreso the second one than the first one and if Fox thinks that's going to get them more viewers they are DEAD wrong. The changes they are making are causing people to lose interest in the show.. including me. After this season I will probably not watch So You Think You Can Dance anymore...I may change my mind by when Season 6 starts in the summer but I somehow tend to doubt it. So You Think Can Dance is turning in to a popularity contest and that's really not what it should be at all. Like they say it's a contest for America's favorite dancer... that;s what it used to be but it seems now that they are making a lot of poor choices to improve their ratings and that won't serve them well in the long run because they willl end up losing viewers especially diehard viewers like me who have been watching since the beginning.

American Idol is pretty bad too... a lot of the stuff they do is more so based on the votes and on popularity. People are so farsighted that they true miss truly talent when they see it. If I had it my way Adam Lambert whould have come in 3rd of 4th last year instead of second and the person who was third would have been the runner up. I like Kris Allen because he is down to earth. Adam Lambert ... well he's a bit too flashy for me sorry to say.

Both American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance will most likely lose my viewership next year. I just find both shows to be really over rated. If it wasn't for Glee there would be nothing good on Fox to watch.

I'd also like to add... that not EVERYTHING about this season has been totally and completley horrendous. The season has definitley had its good points such awesome dances choreographed by Sonya and NappyTaps and some amazing Broadway routines. As far as the top 10 dancers are concerned I think it may be a tough descion for the rest of the American Voting public and the judges but in my opinion her is who I think the top 3 dancers will be.
1. Jakob He has been absolutley amazing ALL SEASON long and he really deleivers every week. Even if he doesn't win he will definitley have a sucesssfull dance carreer after the show
2. Kathryn
3. Ellenore

Channing was my favorite female dancer for most of the season until she got voted off two weeks ago. Since she got voted off Ellenore and Kathryn have really started to shine through. Both girls have their own set of talents but all things considered they are both very versatile dancers and are great assests to their partnerships.

SYTYCD/Glee Weekly Uipdate

So You Think You Can Dance/Glee Weekly Update

Two genres per couple this week. After this week some of the most dynamic couples of this season willl be broken up. I was sad at this point last season when Randi and Evan and Ade and Melissa were going to be split from their partnerships. I feel the same way about Jakob and Ashleigh and Noelle and Russell this season.

Bolded= got my vote.

Top 6

Ryan and Ellenore

Genres Lindyhop/Broadway Overall Rating 16 Break Down Lindyhop 6 Bway 10

Both of these dances were energetic and fun to watch. They had fabulous chemistry in the Broadway routine. Perfect song choice for the Broadway routine because the routine certainly had a lot of Razzle Dazzle.

Kathryn and Legacy

Genres Jazz/Viennese Waltz Overall Rating 17 Breakdown Jazz 7 VWaltz 10

The jazz routine was not my favorite routine of theirs however the Viennese Waltz was beautiful and they had wonderful chemistry and truly emotional.

Karen and Victor

Genres: Tango/Hip Hop Overall Rating15 Breakdown Tango 9 Hip Hop 6

Complimented each other well in both pieces. Both pieces were very emotional and powerful

Mollee and Nathan

Genres: Hiphop/Can-Can Overall Rating 15 Both dances rated a 7,5

The went from being my least favorite couple to totally redeeming themselves. The hip hop piece was really creative. By far the best dance they have done. Can-Can was a new style introduced tomight and I feel they did quite well with it.

Noelle and Russell

Genres: Samba/ Comtemp Overall Rating 12 Breakdown Samba 5 Contemp 7.5

Noelle was very weak in the Samba but quickly bounced back in the contemp routine. The contemporary piece was on of my favorites this week. Tice Diorio is one of my favorite choreogrhers but I must admit I miss Mia Michaels's routines immensly.

Ashleigh and Jakob

Genres: Lyrical Jazz/ Cha Cha Overall 14 Breakdown L Jazz 9 Cha Cha 5

Cha Cha is my least favorite dance style on this show,. I don't think I have seen very many couples that have done it well and if they have been any they have certainly been few and far between. The lyrical jazz piece was purley emotional and very much enjoyed.

Bottom 6: Mollee Nathan Karen Victor Ryan Ellenore

Top 10: Ashleigh Ellenore Jakob Kathryn Legacy Mollee Nathan Noelle Russell Ryan

I was expecting that Karen would go home because I think she has done a lot better in previous weeks in opposition to this week. I was disappoted that Victor went home because he is definitley a stronger dancer than Nathan. I am starting to lose a lot of faith in this show all together. My overall liking of the show this season has gone down hill. Perhaps because this season was to quick to follow the summer season.

Now on to Glee... the drama still continues

* Kurt set Rachel up with Finn and sexed her up much like Frenchy did for Sandy at the end of Grease. To Rachel's diappointment Finn didn't have the same feelings for her as she originally thought causing Rachel to get mad at Kurt and Kurt Rachel the daunting truth that him nor Rachel will have him. Bluntness can hurt but I still think Finn and Rachel will end up together in the end.

*Sue leaks the set list for sectionals to the other schools so the Gleeks have to revise thier plan. Which involves a mash up of the title song from HAIR and Crazy in Love by Beyonce. Other musical numbers were Imagine by John Lennon and Bootylicious by Destiny's Child.

*Baby drama continues! This storyline is dragging on and I am getting sick of it. I think Terri is getting a little bit closer to confessing to Will which is good. Now Puck and Quinn just need to come clean that Puck is the father and everything well be FAB!

Happy Thanksgiving lovely blog followers!
