So You Think You Can Dance Top 12
Week 1: Wadi and Missy
Week 2: Robert and Melinda
Last Week: Ashley and Chris
My prediction for who will go home this week: Caitlyn and Mitchell. They really redeemed themseleves with their second routine but their first routine was the weakest of the season. OVerall they rate a 14 out of a possible score of 20. Their individual performances rated a 6 and an 8.
Tonight each couple preformed two routines. Here is how they rated.
(Listed by Genre in alphabetical order)
Broadway
Ryan and Ricky 7,5/10 This dance was pretty decent but not my favorite Broadway number that's been done on the show. Routines in this category must be FLAWLESS.
Jordan and Tadd 10/10 Great song choice and interesting interperatation of the song
Cha Cha
Ryan and Ricky: 8/10 Very sexy! Total:18
Contemporary
Jordan and Tadd 8/10 Interesting choice of song. Really liked this dance a lot Total: 18
Melanie and Markko 10.10 Beautiful
Hip Hop
Clarice and Jess 9/10 Dance was very well excecuted. Song was not well suited for the genre.
Caitlynn and Mitchell 6/10 100% in agreeance with Sonya's comments.
Jazz
Caitlynn and Mitchell 8/10 This performance could potentially save them from the bottom three. It all depends on how America votes
Sasha and Alexander 10/10 Nothing more to say about this routine other than it was beautiful.
Jive
Clarice and Jess 10/10 These routines are always high energy, entertaining and fun to watch.
Total: 19
The two latin numbers tonight were performed by Sasha and Alexander (Pase Doble, 7/10 Total: 17) and Melanie and Marrko (Tango, 8/10, Total: 18) Both were very intense, powerful and wonderful to watch.
Top Tier performances (if in blue it means I voted for them: Sasha and Alexander ,Clarice and Jess, Markko and Melaine
Middle Tier Perfomances : Jordan and Tadd, Ryan and Ricky
Bottom Tier Performance: Caitlynn and Mitchell
Please note: I will be away on vacation on July 28th so after next week the next time I will update will be August 3rd.

Hip Hop Two Nappy Tabs pieces performed by Jordan and Tadd and MArko and Melaine. Both were entertaining!
Jazz I would have to agree with the judges about this piece. I felt no connection to it whatsover.

Breakdown of Routines
Bollywood These numbers are always entertaining. This time around the nunmber was done by Nick and Iveta. Very energetic and entertaining though I think Iveta is a stronger dancer than Nick. Rating out of 10: 10
Broadway I perfer Tice Diorio's choreography over Spencer Liff but I thought this routine was outstanding and very well done. Not too familiar with the song though or the show it was from. Rating out of 10: 9
Cha Cha This dance was moderate at best. Wadi and Missy executed the song well but Wadi was very weak in some of his moves and did not compliment Missy well. Rating out of 10: 5
Contemporary Two beautifully chreographed numbers by Stacey Tookey performed by Caitlynn and Mitchell and Clarice and Jess. Both of these pieces were very emotional and powerful. Rating out of 10 C & M: 10 C& J: 9
Hip Hop: Two amazing Nappy Tabs numbers performed by Sasha and Alexander and Miranda and Robert Out of the two Sasha andd Alexander's number won my vote because of the powerful emotion it portrayed. Not to mention the timeliness of the piece as the story line was about a soilder coming home from Afghanistan and earlier this evening President Obama announced his plans for troop withdrawl for the war in Afghanistan AMEN! Ratings out of 10: M&R 6 S&A 10
Jazz Ricky and Ryan and Melaine and Markko excuecuted their numbers quite well and did amazing. Very impressive. Both couples comoliment eachother well. Ratings out of 10 : Both couples got a 9.
Viennese Waltz Jordan and Tadd. Not a HUGE fan of the genre but I thought Jordan and Tadd did very well with this routine. It was very beautiful. Rating out of 10 6

Week 5 So You Think You Can Dance
2 broadway numbers 1 which was amazing and one which was not so amazing. The first was done by Jose and Courtney and they did a routine to Mr. Cellophane from Chicago in which Courtney played the show girl and Jose played the lovesick stagehand. This by far was Jose's weakest performane of all the ones he has done. He showed no emotion what so ever. (Side note- I will be seeing Chicago @ Summer Theatre in Meredith Village on the 31st and I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE SHOW! ) The second Broadway number was done by Kent and all star Neil. They did a routine to Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Missouri from Damn Yankees. I found this song ironically approriate because the owner of the NY Yankees George Steinbrenner died of a heart attack on Tuesday and this song is from a musical about the Yankees. The routine was very energetic and fun to watch.
Billy still remains one of my top favorites and I really hope he wins or at least makes it to the top 5. He has been in the bottom 3 for the past 2 weeks which isn't really a good sign. His two genres were Jive and Contemporary. The Jive is always fun to watch and the contemp was very enjoyable. Robert danced a very powerful contemporay piece chreographed by Travis Wall (my second favorite contemp choreographer aside from Mia Michaels whose choreography I greatly miss.) which was about a mother who is suffering from cancer and her son having to deal with it. I was almost crying by the end of the dance for sure. For his second number he did disco which was very enjoyable to watch.

So You Think You Can Dance Summary
A double dose of SYTYCD since I forgot to update last week. Last week I missed half the show because I was conducting interviews for my most recent Milford Cabinet Article about the MAP Play The Pursuit of Happiness. I can't recall everyone who was in the bottom 3 last week but what I do remember was that Melinda went home and that made me happy because she never impressed me from the beginning. This week there were not very many outstanding performances with the exception of Billy's Broadway # (Macavity from CATS) and Ashley's hip hop # (Ninjas).
Here are my performance rankings for this week
Alex missed hus performance
Ashley 8
Adecheke 5
Billy 9
Jose 7.5
Kent 5.5
Lauren 6
Robert 8
Bottom 3: Ashley Alex Billy
Alex was not eliminated due to # of votes he was injured during his performance and has to leave the show to get surgury and rehab and that eliminated him for the rest of the season. I hope he comes back next season because he was a force to be reckoned with and will go all the way to win. As for who I think will be in the top 5. It will be something like this
1. Ashley
2. Billy
3. Robert
4. Jose
5. Lauren

Who I voted for: Alex and Laruen
Still rather disappointed Alexie went home last week. I think she really would have done well this week. I missed Adeccheke's and Chritinsa's performances but based on the snipit I saw when they showed the phone #s at the end of the show they looked pretty good. They won't get rated unfortunatley since I didn't see the whole performance. We'll stat with #3
3 Alex
Genre Broadway
Rating out of 10: 7
Comments: Fosse=LOVE! As I said last week he and Billy are forces to be reckoned with this season. Everything about this routine was amazng.
4. Ashley
Genre Jazz
Rating out of 10: 8
Comments: It was really hard to choose when it came down to voting between her perforamne and Lauren's. Both girls have their own set of unique talents and both routines were very emotional.
5. Billy
Genre Krump
Rating Out of 10:4
Comments: This took him out of his contempory comfort zone and I don't think he fared too well. Not one of my favorite routines at all. I hope it doesn't put him in dange or going home.
6. Robert
Genre: Argentinan Tango
Rating out of 10:9
Comments: Argentinian Tango is not one of my favorite genres but I feel he excuted it very well.
7/ Melinda
Genre: Contempory
Rating Out of 10: 8
Comments: Definitley came a full 180* degree turn from last week's performances. Very emotiomal and powerful. Ade complimented her well as a dance partner.
8. Jose
Genre Bollywood
Rating out 0f 10:9
Comments One of the best dances of the the night by far,... very enjoyable to watch.
9, Lauren
Genre: Lyrical Hip Hop
Rating out of 10" 10
Comments No other words can describe this dance except Beautiful!
10 Kent
Genre Jazz 7.5
Comments: His sexy side came out with a fierceness.
Predicted Bottom 3: Kent, Melinda Billy
Reults
Bottom 3: Cristina Melinda Robert
Who went home Cristina
My predictions were 1 for 2. Melinda had the weakest solo out of the three and should haw gone home. If she doesn't deliver an outstamding performance next week she will most likely go ho,e/ Robert was one of the stronger guys last night. I would have picked Billy or Kent to be in the bottom, over him. Billy's performance was the weakest one last night but he will continue to sdo well and I think it will come down to him and either Alex or Lauren in the finale. If Billy had not gotten sick last year it would have been FIERCE to see him and Jakob Karr square off in the finale.

I am wicked happy Billy is back. He made it through to Vegas last year but then got sick and had to leave the show. Out of the guys I think him and Alex will be forces to be reckoned with At this point the only strong girls that I can see are Ashley and Alexie. The others stil have lots of room to grow.
Performances
Ratings 1-10 1 Horrible 10 Amazzing
Adechekie and Melinda had the weakest performances tonight rating a 6 and a 5 respectively. While Travis Wall's chreography is amazing this particualar Jazz performance was not one of the best. While Melinda's Jive was energetic and fun to works there were a few things the judges pointed out techinically that made the performance weak. Both of them could easily be in dancger fo going home. Out of the two hip hop perfoemances I liked Alexie's better. Her and Twitch definitley had a lot of good chemistry. Jose definitley broke out of his comfort zone and has a lot of room to grow through the rest of the season. Billy's performace of Footloose whie not one of my top favorite Broadway pieces is pretty up there. He is FLAWLESS. Alex's contemporay was absolutely breathtaking... i really have no other words to describe it besides that. I wasn't a huge fan of the pop jazz or Cha Cha pieces though Kent is pretty firece. I think that he will have it really tough against Billy and Alex as will Adecheke and Robert. Jose seems to be in a category that I can't classify. African Jazz is starting to become one of my favoire genres on the show and Robert did fabulous with his sxcuetion of the routine.

Not happy about these results at all. Alexie was much better than Adacheke and should have not gone home. She would have done really well if she had stayed next week, Adecheeke in my opinion was one of the weakest dancers and Kent was not that great either. I hope they don't continue to eliminate the good dancers or else the show will not be worth watching at all.

Update
I recently went to two benefit concerts and I am going to another tomorrow. The first benefit concert was on April 23rd and it was a benefit for victims of January earthquake in Haiti. I got there a littl late because of I got of work at 6:00. The concert featured local bands Undertow, The Fitted Shirt,The Yellow Team and The Sea Captains (which has two fellow SHS music department members Chris St Lawrence and Marty Morrissey) The concert was organized by Kelly Dubois a senior at SHS and I must say was enjoyable and very well organized. The second benefit concert was last weekend at Moultoborough Academy in Moultonborugh. This benefit concert was for Summer Theatre in Meredith Village and was comprised of four performers Brittany Bara,Maxim Gijkham, Brooke White and Scott Sowinski This concert had a variety of music in it which varied from Broadway hits to songs from this seasons shows. Lots of a great songs and way too many to pick a favorite. L00king so forward to this season at Summer Theatre in Meredith Village! The third benefit concert is tomorrow night and it was organized by my sister and her Ethics Forum class. I am looking forward to it because I went to it last year and enjoyed myself. The Sea Captains are performing as well as a few other local bands.
My next journalistic ventue was writing an article on summer stock theatre for NH To Do Magazine. The July Issue will be out in a few weeks and I am very excited to have my first magaine piece published. Yay!
After much discussion Rae Matt and I finally came to a mutal decision about what shows to see in New York. We decided to see Jersey Boys and Come Fly With Me. I am very excited about seeing these shows especially Jersey Boys. My parents saw that in Chicago last year and I have heard good things about it from them. Our back ups are Billy Elliot, West Side Story and In The Heights. Hopefully we are able to get good ticket discounts.
American Idol Finale: It was Crystal and Lee down to the wire. Lee ended up winning which was shocking because I was almost positive that Crystal had it in the bag. Oh well they will both have amazing careers post Idol
Glee: The finale is next week. It seems like this part of the season was shorter in comparison to the first half of the season. I missed last week's episode but in that episode it was discovered that Shelby, the coach of Vocal Adreneline is Rachel's mom. I am very happy about this. I think Lea Michele and Idina Menzel make a dynamic pair. Not to mention they look like twins. I felt bad for Rachel in this week's episode because the people from Vocal Adrenaline ganged up on her. Jesse didn't particular look like he wanted to be involved but reluctantly joined in leaving Rachel in the parking lot covered with eggs. The queestion of where Quinn has been living was finally answered. I had been confused about that for several weeks. She is living with Puck but Mercedes invited her to move in with her so I am happy about that.. an unexpected twist in the plot.
So You Think You Can Dance: I didn't think I would be watching So You Think You Can Dance because last season left me really unfullfilled. This season they are doing allstar picking a top 10 intead of a top 20 and bringing back people from previous seasons. I am looking forward to watching and I didn't think I would be saying that. Mia Michaels is back as a judge which makes me elated. Mary Murphy is gone which makes me even happier.

So You Think You Can Dance Finale Recap
Monday, December 14, 2009
Thought of the day
Keep in mind that Ashleigh did not even dance last week because she was injured. Mollee who got sent home danced absolutley pheonominal and should have been in the finale instead of her. While Mollee wasn't my favorite all season she grew on me after awhile and really statrted to show maturity in her dancing once the partner switch ups occured a few weeks ago. Her broadway # with Jakob last week was truly the best one yet. Ashleigh on the other hand is a pretty average dancer in my books as is Ryan. Ryan only had about one or two routines that stood out to me all season long and his solos were boring and very repettivie. Ashleigh did not really have any memorable routines by my standards and her solos were mediocre.
Originally I thought this was all just talk and people were just saying it because they were mad that Mollee and Legacy did not make it into the finale. Now that it appears to be fact I am less than amused and just as angered and upset as others on the chatboard on fox.com are.
If this supposed to be a contest for America's Favorite Dancer where does America's vote even matter? I don't see how the voting public even matters if the judges and producers have such a high matter opinion of who should be in the top dancers. This show is nothing more but another realtiy show popularity contest. True talent apparently does not seem to matter anymore. If it did Channing and Victor would be in the finale and NOT Ashleigh and Ryan.
I am in total disgust over this. My faith in this show has gone way down. It seems to have lost any type of creditibilty it used to have.
Like many others on the fox.com chat board Season six may be the last season of So You Think You Can Dance that I watch. Shame on you Fox for letting creadibility slip away. You are losing many viewers because of this... not just me.

So You Think You Can Dance/ Glee Weekly Update
I will talk about Glee first and then move effortlessly into talking about SYTYCD
I LOVED THE FINALE while a tad predictable because of build up from previous episodes it was AMAZING!
Mercedes's audition for the ballad was amazing. I felt bad for her when she was seeing the other group at sectionals singing it. She would of nailed it.
How diid the other Gleeks expect Rachel not to find out.. they were kind of dumb to think she would't figure it out and tell Finn. I felt REALLY bad for him but loved how he came through for everyone at the end despite how angry he was at Quinn and Puck.
Will and Emma!! YES!! I was dead on about them getting together.
Don't Rain on My Parade- BEST MUSICAL # of the whole show. I LOVE LEA MICHELE!
I love how Pricinpal Figgins totally bitched out Sue about leaking the set list. She definitley got what she had coming to her Glee Club is victorious and can't be brought down. I loved how Emma went up to the the teachers from the other two schools and told it like it was about how they cheated and how it doesn't reflect very good on them as teachers. That is so true! Way to go Emma!
and to add: Glee has been nominated for 4 Golden Globe Awards!! 2 for best musical drama 1 for best Actor Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) an 1 for Best Actress Jane Lynch ( Sue Sylvester)
Edit 1/1/10 Too lazy to make a seperate entry
Top 10 Songs from Season 1 of Glee

6. Maybe This Time
7. My Life Would Suck Without You
8 Defying Gravity
9. Bust A Move
10. Dancing With Myself
Imagine is not too far behind nor is Lean On Me
Top 5 Least Favorite Songs from Season 1 of Glee
1. Hair and Crazy in Love Mashup I think this song did a total injustice to the title song from HAIR which is a really good showtune. It was a bas idea on the part of the producers of the show to combine it with Crazy In Love. Beyonce and Broadway showtunes do not mix. I was glad that song was not on the CD. I would have instantly skipped over it if it was.
2. Don't Make Me Over
3. (You're) Having MY Baby This song was just horrendous to listen to, I just skip over it on the cd.
4. Crush
5. Gold Digger
NOW for SYTYCD!!
Top 6 Pairings and Genres
Couples:Jakob & Mollee – Broadway (Joey Dowling), Viennese Waltz (Jason Gilkison)
The Viennese Waltz is not one of my favorite styles of dance but you have to admit it is beautiful. Jakob and Mollee had beautiful chemistry in this dance and wonderful lines. For the Broadway routine they danced to one of my favorite songs Easy Street from Annie. They did fabulous with capturing the emotions of the chracters.
Legacy & Ellenore – Contemporary (Travis Wall), Hip Hop (Nappy Tabs)
Very interesting concept behind the contemporary. Quite an intense number. Not sure it was one of my favorite performances of the season but still worth watching. The hip hop # was average at best and I didn't understand the story behind it. They had amazing chemistry. :) I love Nappy Tabs.
Ryan & Kathryn - Disco, Cha-Cha
The disco was fun and entertaining to watch. It doesn't seem like Ryan really danced a lot and was very stiff. That could bring down the partnership. On a scale of 1-10 the ChaCha rates a 5.5 overall in terms of sexiness and sasiness. It was good otherwise. Hopefully both of these performances will keep Kathryn OUT of the bottom 2.
Russell & Ashleigh – Hip Hop (Shane Sparks),Bollywood
Ashleigh was out due to an injured shoulder so Russell had to dance with the chreographer. This is not the first time Russell has been in this situation this season. This could bring him down this week which is a concern. Russell was good in the hiphop routine .

- Mia Michaels not being a choreographer or judge
- Adam Shankman being a permanent judge- I have lots of love for Adam but I also liked hearing differnt view points from other people each week and it gets boring having commentary by the same people each week.
- I found that there were very few dances that were memorable this season. Out of all the dances I would only say about 5 or 6 were memorable as opposed to last season where there tons more routines that stood out. Those listed in my favorite dances list below are the ones that truly stood out and were the ones that I'll look back on and remember
- The fact that this season was so soon after the summer season.
- The fact that Nigel was so incredibly rude and degrading to Nathan. See my post from November 27th.

Going downhill
Since the first season in 2003 I have been hooked and have watched every single season up to the current one. I have been reading a lot of threads on the fox.com message boards in which various people have said that the show has gone downhill this season and I completley concur with thier opinions. The show is becoming less and less interesting and sorry to say more and more predictable with each passing week. First off I think it was a huge mistake for them to do Season 6 so soon after season 5. That threw me off from the start of course my viewership of both So You Think You Can Dance and Glee have been rather sporadic due to academic reasons plus I typically avoid watching the audition episodes because they tend to drag out and all the drama gives me a headache. The show says it's supposed to be the search for America's favorite dancer.. I am beginning to disagree with this statement a lot because lately it seems like the judges opinions have a big part in who goes foward to the next round and America's votes are really put on the back burner. They cut the GOOD dancers like Victor and Channing and keep the not so good ones, Mollee and Nathan referred to by Mary Murphy as the Dream Team. I like a majority of the other couples who made it to the top 10 and am happy one of the couples I was originally rooting for from Day 1 is still in the contest, Russell and Noelle, Compared to the other dancers on the show Mollee and Nathan are a lot less mature and less seasoned then the other dancers and I personally think that they only reason they are getting so many votes is because the teenage girls think Nathan is so cute. Very few of thier numbers have stood or been memorable while Channing and Victor who have been voted off in the past two weeks gave amazing performances, sure their solos might have been weak but their partner performances were good. Mollle and Nathan on the other hand had the WEAKEST solos this week and Mollee's ankle injury was definitley a deficit to her performances in my opinion. Another mistake they have made is changing the stage. I liked the stage the way it was and do not at all understand why they had to change it.. the ligthing design is also bad from what i've been reading on the fox.com message board I haven't really noticed that very much though. Also one of the best chreographers Mia Michaels has left the show. This saddens me because her pieces were award winning and she one one of my favorite choreographers.
So is it the contest for America's favorite dancer or a contest for who the judge's favorites are?
I think it's moreso the second one than the first one and if Fox thinks that's going to get them more viewers they are DEAD wrong. The changes they are making are causing people to lose interest in the show.. including me. After this season I will probably not watch So You Think You Can Dance anymore...I may change my mind by when Season 6 starts in the summer but I somehow tend to doubt it. So You Think Can Dance is turning in to a popularity contest and that's really not what it should be at all. Like they say it's a contest for America's favorite dancer... that;s what it used to be but it seems now that they are making a lot of poor choices to improve their ratings and that won't serve them well in the long run because they willl end up losing viewers especially diehard viewers like me who have been watching since the beginning.
American Idol is pretty bad too... a lot of the stuff they do is more so based on the votes and on popularity. People are so farsighted that they true miss truly talent when they see it. If I had it my way Adam Lambert whould have come in 3rd of 4th last year instead of second and the person who was third would have been the runner up. I like Kris Allen because he is down to earth. Adam Lambert ... well he's a bit too flashy for me sorry to say.
Both American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance will most likely lose my viewership next year. I just find both shows to be really over rated. If it wasn't for Glee there would be nothing good on Fox to watch.
I'd also like to add... that not EVERYTHING about this season has been totally and completley horrendous. The season has definitley had its good points such awesome dances choreographed by Sonya and NappyTaps and some amazing Broadway routines. As far as the top 10 dancers are concerned I think it may be a tough descion for the rest of the American Voting public and the judges but in my opinion her is who I think the top 3 dancers will be.
1. Jakob He has been absolutley amazing ALL SEASON long and he really deleivers every week. Even if he doesn't win he will definitley have a sucesssfull dance carreer after the show
2. Kathryn
3. Ellenore
Channing was my favorite female dancer for most of the season until she got voted off two weeks ago. Since she got voted off Ellenore and Kathryn have really started to shine through. Both girls have their own set of talents but all things considered they are both very versatile dancers and are great assests to their partnerships.

SYTYCD/Glee Weekly Uipdate
Bottom 6: Mollee Nathan Karen Victor Ryan Ellenore
Top 10: Ashleigh Ellenore Jakob Kathryn Legacy Mollee Nathan Noelle Russell Ryan
I was expecting that Karen would go home because I think she has done a lot better in previous weeks in opposition to this week. I was disappoted that Victor went home because he is definitley a stronger dancer than Nathan. I am starting to lose a lot of faith in this show all together. My overall liking of the show this season has gone down hill. Perhaps because this season was to quick to follow the summer season.
Now on to Glee... the drama still continues
* Kurt set Rachel up with Finn and sexed her up much like Frenchy did for Sandy at the end of Grease. To Rachel's diappointment Finn didn't have the same feelings for her as she originally thought causing Rachel to get mad at Kurt and Kurt Rachel the daunting truth that him nor Rachel will have him. Bluntness can hurt but I still think Finn and Rachel will end up together in the end.
*Sue leaks the set list for sectionals to the other schools so the Gleeks have to revise thier plan. Which involves a mash up of the title song from HAIR and Crazy in Love by Beyonce. Other musical numbers were Imagine by John Lennon and Bootylicious by Destiny's Child.
*Baby drama continues! This storyline is dragging on and I am getting sick of it. I think Terri is getting a little bit closer to confessing to Will which is good. Now Puck and Quinn just need to come clean that Puck is the father and everything well be FAB!
Happy Thanksgiving lovely blog followers!
